2017 AISB Online Application

Please read the tabs below before beginning online application process.

Instructions:

  1. Create username and password.
  2. After username and password are created, user will be taken to log-in page.
  3. Completely fill out online application.
  4. After submission of application, please read confirmation page as additional instructions are given.

PARTICIPANT EXPECTATIONS:

  • Commitment to the full 5-week academic & residential program and be ready to learn (students are required to live on campus for the duration of the program)
  • Participants AND parents will attend the 2017 AISB Orientation on Saturday, June 17, 2017
  • Participants must secure transportation to UNM at the start of the program on June 17 and when departing at the conclusion of the program on July 21, 2017. Personal vehicles cannot be accommodated.
  • Comply with campus policies regarding safety, conduct, academic honesty, and behavior
  • Participants sustain contact with American Indian Student Services and engage in student support programming throughout the 2017-18 academic year

Before you apply, you must meet the following REQUIREMENTS:

  • Admitted to UNM-Main Campus as 1st year freshman for Fall 2017
  • Enrolled Member of a Federally Recognized Tribe
  • Completed 2017-18 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) - UNM School Code = 002663
  • Minimum English ACT Score of 17 or higher (or SAT Verbal Score of 410 or higher)
  • Minimum Math ACT Score of 17 or higher for placement into one of the following:
    • UNIV 103 - Foundational Math
    • Math 101, 102, 103 - Intermediate Algebra
    • Math 121 - College Algebra

For COMPLETE application to the 2017 American Indian Summer Bridge Program, you must submit the following:

  1. Completed ONLINE AISB Application
  2. Submit Copy of Certificate of Blood (CIB) to AISB Coordinator
  3. Submit Copy of Letter of Admission to AISB Coordinator

NOTE:  The ONLINE AISB Application will take approximately 30 minutes to 1 hour to complete.  Please have the following information readily available before you begin:

  • High school information
  • ACT/SAT test scores
  • Parent contact information
  • Extracurricular/community services/awards information
  • Must respond to 5 short essay questions:
    • Description of who you are, where you are from, and why you want to participate in the AISB Program.
    • Indicate your academic and future plans and how you anticipate the AISB experience will help you meet those goals.
    • What you anticipate contributing to the AISB Faculty, Staff, and Participants (e.g. leadership qualities, important characteristics, etc.).
    • Your ability to successfully complete a rigorous 5-week residential and academic program (e.g. study habits/skills, focus, motivation, etc.).
    • Please include any other information that you feel the Selection Committee should consider, including any circumstances affecting your academic record.
