October 1, 2017 - Truman Scholarship (UNM Preliminary Application Deadline)

Scholarship Eligibility Requirements

  • Be an undergraduate junior in any major;
  • Be a U.S. citizen;
  • Have a highly competitive GPA;
  • Plan to pursue a graduate program leading to a career in government or public service.
  • Plan to pursue a career in Public Service
  • Obtain institutional nomination.
  • Submit UNM Preliminary Application by 11:59 pm, 10/1.

October 31, 2017 - Goldwater Scholarship (UNM Preliminary Application Deadline)

Scholarship Eligibility Requirements

Available only to undergraduate students majoring in mathematics, science, or engineering.

  • Be a sophomore or junior at the time of application (graduating in May 2019 - August 2020);
  • Be a U.S. citizen, national/resident alien;
  • Have a highly competitive grade point average;
  • Obtain institutional nomination;
  • Submit UNM Preliminary Application by 10/31.

November 20, 2017 - Morris K. Udall Scholarship (UNM Preliminary Application Deadline)

Scholarship Eligibility Requirements

Every year the Udall foundation seeks to award approximately sixty scholarships and fifty honorable mentions on the basis of merit to students across the US. Students in the fields of environmental science, policy, engineering, science, education, planning and renewal, business, health, justice, and economics are encouraged to apply.

  • For undergraduates who intend to pursue careers in environmental public policy or Native American or Alaskan natives whose careers show commitment to tribal public policy or Native American or Alaskan natives whose careers show a dedication to Native health care.
  • Be a college sophomore or junior at the time of application;
  • Have a college grade-point average of at least "B;"
  • Be a U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or U.S. national;
  • Demonstrate commitment and potential to make a contribution to environmental public policy and to foster excellence in the field.
  • Obtain institutional nomination
  • Submit UNM Preliminary Application by 11/20

November 27, 2017 - James H. Gibson Scholarship for Navajo Undergraduate Students

Scholarship Eligibility Requirements

  • Scholarship is open to all full-time Navajo undergraduate students with preference given to White Rock and Mexican Chapter members.
  • Certificate of Indian Blood and/or Proof of Enrollment
  • A comprehensive statement expressing your educational goals, personal philosophy and motivation for applying for a Scholarship.
  • A complete list/directory of student organization(s), extra-curricular activities, volunteer and community service experiences.
  • Unofficial UNM Transcript (Applicants must have attended UNM for a minimum of 1 semester to be eligible for consideration.)
  • Certificate of Indian Blood and/or Proof of Tribal Enrollment
  • Any additional documentation you feel pertinent to your application.
