The core mission of American Indian Student Services (AISS) is to provide opportunities that enhance American Indian student success, while also advancing a wide range of objectives aligned with The University of New Mexico's enrollment, retention, and graduation goals. AISS is seeking a Marketing Assistant to assist with the management of AISS social media and graphic design work.

The ideal candidate would demonstrate proficiency in the following areas: Customer/Student Service, Project Management & Event Coordination, and Computer Skills. Primary duties include, but are not limited to:
- Management of AISS social media account(s)
- Development of graphic design & marketing work
- Launches, manages, and assists in developing effective social media campaigns/presence on Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, and other relevant social networking sites as well as establish consistent communication across multiple networks
- Monitors all mentions of AISS found online, including online discussions, crafting responses, tracking alerts, and monitoring social media sites via mobile devices in a timely manner
- Assists in the collection, compilation, and analysis of online activity data and comprehensive statistical and narrative reports
- Attend monthly UNM Social Media Users Group (SMUG) & Marketing & Communication Advisory Council (MARCOMM) meetings to collect ideas and keep up to date with UNM Social Media policy
- Collaborates with the AISS marketing team to ensure proper content and messaging executed online is relevant to organizational goals
- Produce original photographic elements featuring campus life, events, and locations
- Film and edit videos for social media and website
- Additional job-related duties as assigned
The Marketing Assistant will collaborate with AISS Professional Staff on projects and assignments as needed. Attention to detail, time management, and communication are essential, especially in the event of short notice of projects and coordination of marketing campaigns that extend across multiple semesters. The Marketing Assistant will assist with Front Desk duties, including: providing in-person and telephone general information specific to the department and/or the University; operating various office machines, photographic equipment, and computers; data entry; managing spreadsheet applications; photocopies and facsimiles; maintaining confidential records and information; and assisting with special projects and programming.
This position requires in-person work at American Indian Student Services. Work hours during the Spring semester are up to 28 hours per week. Additional assignments and work hours may be assigned. Continued employment through the Summer/Fall 2025 semester and beyond will be determined through the department performance evaluation process.
Minimum Qualifications- Enrolled in a degree-seeking program at UNM, enrolled at least half-time (6) at UNM for Spring 2025 (Audit hours do not count), and, if Work Study eligible, must meet Satisfactory Academic Progress.
- Applicants must have a minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA and be enrolled full-time at UNM-Main Campus.
Preferred Qualifications
Demonstrated proficiency/experience:
- - Expertise/competency utilizing Adobe Creative applications (Illustrator, lnDesign, Adobe Express, and Photoshop), Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook), Canva, and Internet Navigation is required.
- Applicants must possess positive work ethic, initiative, flexibility, enthusiasm, and willingness to learn.
- Highly motivated individual with strong organizational and interpersonal skills and an established record of providing superior customer service is critical to the position.
- Applicants who demonstrate the ability to understand and follow specific instructions and procedures, and work both independently and as a team member will receive priority consideration.
- Applicants with creative experience producing original photographic content featuring campus life in alignment with UNM Brand Standards.
- Ability to create high quality graphic content, original copy, and videos aligned with UNM Brand Standards.
- Backgrounds in project management, highly desired.
- Applicants must be available to start no later than February 17, 2025.
- Applicants that can commit to the Marketing Assistant position for a minimum of one year are highly desirable.

Position Summary
American Indian Student Services (AISS) is seeking candidates for Residential Advisors for the 2025 American Indian Summer Bridge (AISB) Program. The AISB Program is designed to immerse incoming American Indian/Indigenous students into the rigors of college life while providing academic, financial, and social preparation for the first-year university experience. AISB will consist of two immersion sessions allowing participating students to earn up to 3 college credit hours while strengthening time management and study skills. Each session will be two and a half weeks long on June 4 to June 20, 2025, and July 9 to 25, 2025. Residential Advisors will support incoming first-year American Indian/Indigenous students’ successful transition into college.
The successful candidates will serve as mentors and provide supervision for the duration of the program. Under the guidance of the AISB Program Coordinator, the Residential Advisors have primary responsibility for providing tutoring support services; living on campus with AISB participants; planning and supervising all activities (including evenings and weekends); transporting students to all scheduled events; conducting small group discussions on a variety of topics relevant to college life; and other duties as assigned. Residential Advisors receive extensive training prior to the start of the session – in-person attendance is mandatory and non-negotiable. Residential Advisors are expected to demonstrate high levels of responsibility, project an attitude of commitment and sensitivity to each individual student, and demonstrate an awareness of how diversity intersects with respect to cultural, racial, gender, and ethnic backgrounds. Must be able to differentiate learning styles and work effectively with AISB students and faculty, and AISB & AISS staff. Residential Advisors will work an average of 35-40 hours per week.
Working benefits include weekday meals and on-campus housing for each session.
Salary: $16.00 per hour, weekday meals, and paid on-campus housing for each session (Total Approx. Value =$1087.50)
Term of Employment: May 19, 2025 to August 1, 2025
Minimum Qualifications
- Applicant must have completed a minimum of one academic year (two full semesters with a minimum of 12 credit hours each semester) at UNM-Main Campus by the end of Spring 2025.
- Must possess a valid Driver’s License. If selected, you are required to submit a copy of your Driver’s License.
- Must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher.
- Minimum required work hours:
- Must be available from May 19, 2025 – August 1, 2025
- Training: Monday, May 19, 2025 – Tuesday, June 3, 2025 from 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
- Weekly 1-hour meetings with AISB Coordinator for duration of AISB
- Additional tasks and hours, as assigned.
- Applicants may NOT enroll in Summer 2025 courses or hold other job(s) that would interfere with the position for the duration of the employment term: May 19, 2025 to August 1, 2025.

- Completed at least 2 years of college.
- Must be a returning student to UNM-Main Campus for the 2025-2026 Academic Year.
- Candidates who demonstrate strong mentoring and teamwork skills, as well as a vibrant personality.
- Candidates who demonstrate an understanding of diversity; particularly for American Indian/Indigenous students from diverse backgrounds and tribal affiliations.
- Previous AISB RA or participant experience desired.
