The Mensa Foundation Scholarship Program awards more than $200,000 in assistance every year to college-bound students around the globe. Scholarships are awarded based solely on 550-word essays expressing applicants’ academic and professional goals and how their personal experiences will help them to accomplish those goals. We are a group of dedicated nursing professionals and educators aimed in supporting and empowering the American Indian community. The LANL Foundation offers scholarships via the Los Alamos Employees’ Scholarship Fund (LAESF) to high school graduates and current undergraduate students from Northern New Mexico to pursue 4-year degrees.

Students are evaluated based on information and materials submitted in their application. Those who pursue degrees in STEM fields or other professions deemed important to the future success of Northern New Mexico are given priority consideration for the top level of awards. Scholarships support students in any field of study, not just STEM careers. Students pursuing a 4-year undergraduate degree submit one application in order to be considered for all 4-year renewable scholarships and one-time awards. The LAESF Advisory Committee evaluates all applications in attempt to match applicants with any awards for which they are eligible and selects the strongest candidates in each category to receive an award. The Irene and Daisy MacGregor Memorial Scholarship is awarded to two students of high scholastic standing and character who have been accepted into or are pursuing an approved course of study to become a medical doctor (no pre-med, veterinarian or physician assistant) at an approved, accredited medical school. Renewal is conditional upon maintenance of a GPA of 3.25.This scholarship is also available to students who have been accepted into or who are pursuing an approved course of study in the field of psychiatric nursing at the graduate level at accredited medical schools, colleges, or universities. A scholarship in the amount of $4,000 year for up to four consecutive years awarded to one undergraduate or graduate student who has declared a major in a natural science field of study or a student who has been accepted into or is currently enrolled in a masters or doctoral graduate program in a natural science field of study. The concentrated areas of natural scientific study may include, but not limited to, biology, chemistry, physics, astronomy or earth science. Medical, veterinary, dental or nursing degree programs will not be considered. The scholarship is awarded to students who have demonstrated understanding of, and interest in, their chosen scientific field. Eligibility and renewal are conditional upon a minimum GPA of 3.25 based on a 4.0 scale, or the equivalent GPA on the scale used by the applicable educational institution. The Madeline Pickett (Halbert) Cogswell Nursing Scholarship, in the amount of $2,500 is awarded to two students who are accepted or enrolled in an accredited school of nursing. The Mary Elizabeth Lockwood Beneventi MBA Scholarship is a one-time preferred amount $2,000 scholarship for a student attending graduate school full time in an accredited college or university and majoring in business administration. The applicant must have a minimum GPA of 3.25. The scholarship is not automatically renewable, however, recipients may reapply for consideration each year. Click to apply.
This scholarship is a one-time only, preferred amount award of $3,000 to two students with a minimum 3.0 GPA based on a 4.0 scale or the equivalent GPA on the scale used by the applicable educational institution at the third year level of undergraduate study or at the graduate level, rotating depending on the year of the President General’s administration, in the fields of: (Year 1) Museum Studies, (Year 2) Library Science, (Year 3) American History/Archives Management. The Nellie Love Butcher Music Scholarship is a one-time preferred amount of up to $5,000 awarded annually to a male and female music student who is pursuing an education in piano or voice. Special consideration shall be given to students currently attending the Duke Ellington School of the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C. Performance material on a mp3 file must be submitted with the application. The scholarship is for one year, and is not automatically renewable; however, recipients may reapply for consideration each year, for four based on maintaining a minimum of a 3.0 GPA. Click to apply.
NMPW annually awards two Doris Gregory Memorial journalism scholarships. Recipients must be full-time students in pursuit of a graduate or undergraduate degree in print journalism, broadcast, photojournalism, public relations, communications or advertising at a New Mexico college or university the following fall 2022 semester. A $1,000 scholarship will be given to an Undergraduate student, and a $1,000 scholarship will be given to a Graduate student.
