The New Mexico Gas Company, Inc. (NMGC) Native American Scholarship Program (NASP) provides financial assistance that will support post-secondary education among Native American students. NMGC’s scholarship opportunities are afforded to Native American students residing in New Mexico who have demonstrated a desire to engage in their future through continuing education. The Cobell Scholarship is a non-renewable competitive scholarship that provides one-year of scholarship support to enrolled members of US Federally-recognized tribes with strong academic records who can demonstrate financial need while pursuing Vocational Certification, Associates, Bachelors, Masters and Doctoral degrees. Applicants will write a short essay each year.

Funding consideration will be given to any fully qualified student whose online application is complete and required documents are submitted by the stated deadlines.

The Cobell Scholarship may provide funds for Summer to:

  • Individuals that received Cobell Scholarship funds for the regular Academic Year and are attending full-time summer courses.
  • Individuals attending summer school, full-time, because they are unable to attend the regular academic year.
  • Individuals enrolled in cohort-type programs that require full-time summer enrollment
  • Individuals requiring summer enrollment to complete a program, full-time (or part-time if graduating at the end of the summer term)
  • Individuals engaged in an internship for credit to complete a program

Applicants must submit a creative entry (video, poem, infographic, essay, art, song, etc) on a community service project that have positively impacted the community; and write a 300 word essay nominating a teacher who has inspired your creativity. Click to apply.

Anyone who will be a full-time student (enrolled in at least 12 credit hours) at a college or university in the United States between the dates of August 1, 2023 and July 31, 2024 is encouraged to apply. This usually includes everyone from current high-school seniors to college juniors. Click to apply.
The American Indian College Fund was established in 1989 to provide scholarships to American Indian/Alaska Native students attending tribal colleges, and to fund and create awareness about the community-based accredited tribal colleges and universities that offer students access to knowledge and skills alongside Native culture, language, and values. Be enrolled with his or her respective Tribe, either federally recognized or non-federally recognized Tribe, from the continental US or Alaska. Submit a copy of Tribal enrollment (there is no minimum blood quantum requirement for eligibility). This can be a copy of the student's Tribal I.D. card or a copy of an official letter from the Tribe. Be enrolled as full-time student. ​Have a minimum 2.5 out of 4.0 GPA. Submit a current class schedule and transcript. Attend an accredited institution and be seeking an Associate's Degree or higher (AAIA does not fund certificate programs or seminaries).
